Okay, here's the story. I got a dragon from a recent clutch with an ability called "blood magic", however asking the last three agencies the bloodline went through what exactly "blood magic" is, I haven't been able to come up with an answer. I figured that instead of playing PM-tag with more people who probably know about as much as me, I'd ask it to the forum in general, where someone who actually knows will hopefully turn up.
Tracing the ability back, I think it originated in the Blood Court dragons, from Vella Crean (or at least the Blood Court clutch that hatched from Star City had it). (If anyone wants to see the bloodline, I can post links...)
So... yes. Anybody out there know?
"Blood Magic"?

Blood magic is also a heritage of the chaos-born dragons from SCD and Lantessama. As far as I can tell (or how I've been playing it and understanding it, for my own characters with this ability) it's basically like any other magic, only blood is used as a catelyst and source of power, whether the character's own or someone else's. The magic itself can be used in a variety of ways. I have one blood mage who's also a healer, one blood made who specializes in offensive magic, that sort of thing.
Really, though, many abilities out there are pretty flexible : ) This is kind of one of them.

I know there's some dragons out there descended from my Ombet who inherited a Blood Magic ability. His particular twist on the ability is described as thus:
Ombet manipulates his magic through the spilling of blood. Without the energies released when blood is spilt in violence, Ombet's magic is useless to him. He uses the life-energies of blood as a focus to give his magic shape. Given that his magic utilizes the destructive force of pure chaotic energy, we should be grateful his opportunities to spill blood are so slim.
