I want a snake o.o That's so cool! Ness's right, he's gorgeous ^^

Is he an affectionate snake? The only person I know (in person) with a snake has a pair of extremely stand-offish garden snakes >.> They dun like people....

He's soooo cute! :) Mine was about 4x that big when I got her, and she's never stopped growing. But then she's not a Ball, she's a red-tailed boa.

@ Caco - He's actually a one-girl snake right now. The girls who worked the pet store where I got him were petrified of snakes, so he'd never been handled. He seemed to adapt semi-quickly in the store though, and his coloration was prettier and lighter than their other ball. So I got him. I brought him home and I've been handling as much as I can without stressing him out. He enjoys my touch, crawls out of his aquarium to me, and he doesn't shirk away when I go near his head. When I let him roam my room, he searches me out to curl around my neck =] But other people freak him out. My friend tried to hold him and he curled into a ball and refused to uncurl. But yes, towards me he's very friendly =]

@ Shard - I couldn't imagine a snake that big, not yet at least. I'd have nowhere to keep it! Plus, I like mine boa-able without killing my shoulders =P

Awww, my parents would kill me* for saying this but that is one cute snake! I like his markings, especially the ones on his back just behind his head. ^^

*I like snakes but my parents really hate/are scared of them.

He has gorgeous markings =] Or maybe I'm biased because he's mine. But he has a very wide range of browns and his colors are so intense. I'll be obsessing over them now XD

Snakeeeeeey!

I love snakes - they're so awesome, both in appearance and general ability to be good pets. I've never had a snake, nor do I think I'll ever be able to own one. Congrats, though. ^^ He is gorgeous.

OMG I love him! When I was in..... *tries to think*..... 8th? grade... we had a baby ball python in my science class. I had never actually held a snake before. Touched yes, but never ever held. He was so small... that when he was passed around, he wrapped around my thumb without really weighing it down you know? Omg... feeling those many many muscles pushing like that to propell himself was the most amazing sensation. Those kids who passed up the opportunity to hold him really were missing out.

But then, I've always loved reptiles. If I ever got a python or boa, I think I'd get a baby. They'd be less likely to kill me someday, hopefully. x.x *has a longtime fear of suffocation*

Anyway, congrats! He's lovely and from the sounds of it, already a mama's boy. ^^ <333

Oh, I know what you mean. Kahoku isn't heavy, but he's a strong little bugger! And when he wraps his lower half around my arm, and constricts to hoist himself up and get to my neck, it's like "Easy there fella! I'm a fleshy meatbag, not a steel rod!" And to feel him pushing and pulling with those nifty belly-scale-covered muscles is... amazing. And funny feling. In a good way.

I'm not really fond of reptiles. I've just always had an affinity for snakes. But, yes, I was that little girl in overalls who played in the woods all day and was made to empty her pockets before coming inside the house, cuz I'd have a toad here, garden snake there, bugs, leaves, you know, whatever my childish mind found interesting and pocket sized.

And as weird as this sounds, I hope he remains a mama's boy. I bought a puppy in 5th grade, hoping to have a dog of my own, but he became a family dog. As did my cat. And hamster. And ferret. And cockatiel. And other dog.

So I've sorta given up on having a pet of my own. So I hope Kahoku stays the way he is now.

Ahhh yes, I know what you mean. It's difficult to keep a pet entirely yours. I suggest a parrot for that. They tend to fixate on one person. Unfortunately, it might not be YOU. And... I guess they've been known to favor one spouse over another (shun the other) and then switch... @.x

I was like that too. I loved catching grasshoppers and beetles, and was always saving bugs from rainwater caught in toys and such. I tried to keep grasshoppers and put grass in the container and stuff. Once we filled a kiddie pool with tadpoles. But we forgot to check if the hose was well water, irrigation water, or city water and killed em all overnight by chlorine poisoning. x_X

Ahh, those were the days...

Aww! I want a snake. I always have wanted a snake. But my mom hates snakes and is afraid of them. Besides. We have too many vulnerable animals and if I ever go one and it got out. Well, there goes my rabbit. He does have gorgeous marking though. Absolutely lovely markings. I'll stop rambling now.

So I decided I'd show an updated picture =]
His name is no longer Kohaku. My boyfriend didn't like the name. So he calls him Puppy.

Our pet count:
3 cats [Nickelodeon, Smud, and Roadkill]
2 dogs [Buddy, Abbygail]
1 snake [Puppy]

We plan on adding more eventually =]

Ignore me =] I had just gotten off work.

Puppy had been sick and had been at my manager's house. I have him back now, and simply had to take pictures. His coloration is a bit dull right now due to him being under the weather, and shedding soon.

Yay =]

Well we haven't really picked a permanent name yet =/

Tim and I are odd when it comes to names. Hello, we call each other 'face' and we have a kitten named Roadkill.

Currently, the names we're trying to choose from are Puppy, Sprocket Rocket, Ganja, Izzimon, Absinthe and Ekans
XD

Who knooows.
Everyone needs a snake for a pet =]
