I'm getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow morning, so I may be lying around offline moaning for a few days. Wish me luck!

My mom had them pulled when she was young. Good luck. You'll need it. Remember, soup is your friend! ~_^

Because that sounds grose. >.< Did you get ice cream? What's really fun is to put vanilla ice cream and rootbeer in a blender. But then you can put just about anything with vanilla ice cream in a blender. (either that or i'm just weird) I'll stop babbling now. ^^

Awwwww *gently patpats*

When I had my wisdom teeth out:

-- Dentist was stupid and couldn't find a vein for my knockout med. Tried 4 times unsuccessfully in my arms.
-- Nurse was equally unsuccessful, trying in hands.
-- Eventually had 5-6 shots in my mouth, AND gas.
-- Gas gave me the twitchies, and I still could feel it.
-- They *broke* one tooth, which was then stuck in pieces for more than 2 years (I could still feel one shard of it slowly sucking back up into my jaw - which could be very fatal if it slipped into the wrong part of my skull)
-- They *damaged* my lower jaw's nerve - having jammed the needle for pain killer INTO IT instead of NEXT TO it. Meaning, for 6months + I could not feel the lower left half of my lip or jaw. For another 10 years after that, every time I put something cold against my lip, it would go numb.
-- Dry sockets! Woot! They *packed them full of gauze that had been soaked in clove oil* which apparently I was borderline allergic to. I almost vomited every time I had to swallow. I eventually pulled them all out, and suffered with open sockets.
-- ... Making brushing teeth and *pulling out rotten food bits* OOOOh so nice. One never forgets the taste of rotten food that's sat in a hole in one's mouth for a day. Only a day, and it's... soooooo.... nasty.

.... Anyway, I hope your experience is NOWHERE NEAR that. NO. Where. Near. It's miserable enough to have to sit for that long with your mouth open, eh? Feh! Some dentists just don't know what they were doing. Mine certainly didn't, I think he was high or something. It was the 'cocaine 80s' after all... :/ Should have sued him, but hey, my mom didn't believe me when I told her any of it anyway...

(snuggles doggie)

Gawd Shard that sucks. I got my wisdom teeth out last year. It sucked hard but it was uneventful enough and as long as I was kept properly drugged I was happy >_>

And oooh do I remember the rotten food-bits. Sooo nasty. Toothpicks were my best friends for the first few months after I got them out. Aw, memories ...

Anyway Samber hope you feel better. *sends hugs and fluffy fuzzy things your way*

I had mine out last year. I didn't have a horrifying experience like Shard (yeesh! x_x), but I did "wake up" during it. Though I was slightly aware, I didn't have much intellectual function and I couldn't feel anything. Still, I /did/ hear it when they shattered one of my teeth. it was... cool.

I also amused myself afterwards by playing with my lips while they were completely numb. They're so much bigger and fleshier than you'd imagine when they've got no feeling! Plus, my boy came over and brought me a rose to make me feel better. <3

Either way, feel better soon!

I remember the same weekend I got mine out, my boyfriend hurt his knee and was hospitalized for it, and he was also in the process of moving. So I came to visit, my first time driving to Boulder by myself (I was living about an hour away at that time) and we were both totally drugged and had no furnature and just laid on the floor of his old place staring at the ceiling like "This really sucks."

Updateness, I guess... yes, I'm feeling a bit better today (since I'm diabetic, and the first pain meds prescribed were supposed to shoot my blood sugar way high, I ended up with Lortab instead....wheee! Druggs!) but now guess what?

Normally impacted wisdom teeth is covered by regular health insurance, since it's surgery...but not this time! Gosh. And my dad's sucky dental only covers $1,000 per person per year now that his company got bought out by the French, and I already had my basic checkup for $200 of that (X-rays), so now we've got to pay $700 when we shouldn't pay any. It sucks bad. Both of my parents are now looking into second jobs (mom does Meals on Wheels, dad is a computer programmer). :( I'm gonna see what I can do to help out (I feel guilty) but since my adopties aren't that popular on PI and I don't know that many people... *sigh* But I'm fine, it's just the money. *grin*
