My Sister's Sunfire...

Post by Yakima »

...after getting hit by an air conditioning company van:

Image

Yes, she's okay. Suffered/ing from a concusion and can't remember anything about the accident. My little brother was with her in the back seat on the right side right where the idot hit her. He hit her, threw her car to the opposite side of the highway (luckily, no other cars were comeing from that direction), and hit the car in front of my sister. They had stopped because someone was turning - obviously, the van did not stop.

*hears Kevin laughing and playing with Vicky's friends* Yeah, I'd say so! :P He had a few scratches/cuts, bruises and will be sore. Both were released from the hospital that day and Vicky is better. I mean, she has probably been on the phone all day soo...just has some memory problems...

Not as bad as Philippe did because at least she remembered her name! :P

O.O Wow. I'm glad your family's alright. And I do hope you press charges or summat. The van driver is totally in the wrong here.

Wow... He must've been going fast to do that.

The Elves of Senta are actually rather hardy folk - Philippe searched me in the middle of winter without much to keep him warm and the beating his body takes in his battle with Krelnar is anouther one. I guess it depends on the place the elf is from. :)

I don't know what they're going to do but I don't think she's going to get the fault for it. The highway speed limit is 55 (so everyone does at least 60...*cough*) so at least that fast.

We use to be, Shadow, but I agree with you there - and expecially Kevin. Mom said he was screaming (I figured that), and kept yelling at Vicky who was unconsious. They had to break the back window to get him out and he said he let them because I wanted out of that car. Don't blame him. For his age he handled this all very well. We were teasing him when Tee and I visited at the hospital because of his scars and the country song 'Chicks Dig It'...Vicky was the one in worse condtion and we're only guessing she had her seatbelt on but she can't remember if she did or not.

Yeah, but he has to make /absolutely sure/ so that they don't hound him in court.

It's accidents like that which make me glad I drive a Volvo... my car 'wins' when someone plows into the back of it...

Glad your family is okay, though. That poor car is definitely dead... insurance companies will generally only repair it if the damage caused is less than a third of the value of the car, usually...

Could it actually end up in court? I'm curious, coz it wouldn't over here - the accident was his fault (at least by our road traffic laws), so his insurance policy pays for your sister's repairs and/or new car, and if she kicks up enough fuss, pays compensation for her injuries - which is like £10,000 ($18,000) just for whiplash, so concussion and memory loss could well get more...

I think they're saying its defiently his fault but I really don't know what's going on with it. I know my parents will make sure things work out.

Shadow, it's at the bus parking lot where my parents work because that was where they wanted it towed. :P

*hugs* Tell your sister our thoughts are with her! I'm glad everyone came out okay.

The last time there was an accident in my family, my dad ended up with whiplash and had to wear a neck brace for a week. His friend's truck got pushed off the road by an eighteen-wheeler. :/ We're lucky the worst he got was whiplash!

Wow. That's...no good. I'm really glad everyone was okay.

I agree with Shadow in the 'Yay' for tank cars. I have an '82 Cordoba. Unless it's like, a semi...my car wins.

She's lucky.

Yah, my Volvo's not lost an accident yet. I do get out of the way of anything three or more times bigger than my car, though... Buses and large lorries, and that's about it...

Heh... Nah, I'm not that reckless. The trouble with a big tank car is that when it's snowy and the road is slippery, the kind of momentum you can build up is frightening. My Volvo weighs like 1.4 metric tons. The front would stop but the back would keep going and slide sideways... On the plus side, though, I wasn't too scared about getting hurt...

I remember one point, though, in a little village halfway between the office and home, where there's a narrow bit of road that goes up a little bit, and then down quite steeply... You can only fit one car through at a time, but nobody was trying to come up it anyway... so everyone going down would come up to the edge and just slide down, one at a time... and then next car would only follow when the previous one was well and truly clear... Scary, but sorta fun...

Aw, sorry, I didn't mean to say you were reckless. XD It's just a funny mental picture.

You're lucky you live in a place where people are still wary of winter! Over here, people are so used to it that they go whipping around corners and turn-offs and then they /still/ fly into the ditch, and they wonder what happened!

Didn't think you were accusing me of being reckless, so it's fine. :) Still, people DO get out of the way quick when they see me coming... It's a Volvo thing... everybody around here is wary of Volvo's, apart from other Volvo drivers, who have an unspoken pact to assist one another. If I'm trying to turn onto a larger road that's really busy, 75% of the time it's another Volvo that stops to let me out...

I think we're only wary of winter because we get snow so rarely. Last winter was the first time in five years that we'd had snow. Everyone was so shocked that everyone was being careful, and also helping each other out. Every time someone got stuck, anyone nearby would help him out. It was all the older cars that had problems, mostly, or those that were simply so heavy that they tended to sink...

First off - yikes! o_O That's one smushed car, glad everyone is okay. Thank whatever powers that be.

Eh, drivers in alaska are stupid. Seems like most of the population isn't wary of winter anymore - all it takes is a few days of sun to melt the snow in December and they all go brain dead and act like it is summer when it snows again... You'd think after living in alaska for a few years they'd know not to go 70+ mph on a road covered with slush and black ice when they can only see ten feet in front of their car. >_< Justice is a few hours in the ditch. Heh.

*rethinks about the winter* Lots of words can describe winter in my little village. Cold, Very cold, Extremely cold. See, Michigan has four basic seasons: Contruction, Almost winter, Winter, Still winter. But it's fun because everybody goes so fast and the only time people ever really get stuck is when it's Still Winter and there's a lot of slush on the road. But other than that. Almost all the people up here have big, heavy duty trucks that all the little cars are afraid of. *thinks back to getting behind cars for the fun of scaring the poor driver* Ah well, Michigan, as well as having four seasons has seven temperatures. Cold, Very Cold, Extremely Cold, Hot, Very hot, Extremely hot, and Oddly Unaturaly comfortable. But the last one usualy only last a couple hours or so. :D Heh, my little village is fun in the winter.

Now that we've established that both occupants are okay and going about everyday life, allow me to be the first to point at that picture and say: OWNED!!!!!!!
