Hi I'm new here. I'm new to dragoning as well. Any help would be appreciated.

mm, I was in your spot a little while ago, though i was familiar with dragoning. woof.
I'm still getting the hang of things, but people here make sense and'll help you out. There're two newbie threads in here that have information; mine and.. someone else's, i think. XP But people will explain if you give them the chance, so, yes.

Hi! Glad you're here and posting! Any questions just ask!

We like to show off artwork, share writings and ideas, and generally obsess over dragons. There are giveaways, raffle-aways, announcements and requests for dragon cyberpers here.

Generally speaking we like to have the dragons we give out placed on pages on the net, with their 'stats' and a link to the originator's page. Some folks like to have pages up *before* a dragon image is given out, others don't mind if it takes a while.

Anyway, I'm Shard, the Geezer here. If you're coming from Deviant Art I'm Lethegray, so you know.

I've invited several folks but I'm not sure who's come in and who hasn't.

I have examples of stats pages, if you want them, dark. But then, so does everyone. XP Check out the databases forum, with teh link in dragonries? That will give you some ideas of what this is about. Or most of the links in people's siggies, which work just as well.

Just ask questions! Usually we respond if prodded! XD

If you need a general 'What is Dragoning?' response, it works a little like this:

1) You write a story and/or a stats page for a character--could be any character, typically we prefer original, not fan-fic stuff--and place it on a web-page, like at geocities.

2) You find an adoption agency through this forum. (Look here for a semi-recent listing of places, or you can click the links in people's signatures!)

3) You read the rules to the agency and fill out their application form, then mail or send it off to 'em.

4) You wait! Some clutches are egg-based, which means you have to wait until the clutch is filled for the dragons to hatch, and thusly, to be adopted out. Some clutches are deadline-based, so you have to wait till a certain date. In the meantime, you can write up more characters!

5) Once your character has bonded (linked his/her mind with a dragonet), or sponsored (fostering a dragonet like a young child, with intent to care for it to maturity), you have to put the image you recieve up on the same web-page as the character--or somewhere where people can easily find it! Usually there are deadlines for this--if you're too slow, your dragon may be abandoned!

6) Repeat!
6a) In the meantime, you can send your adult dragon to any of the agencies linked to breed. Usually through 'flights', where a single female will lead a chase of males to decide which she wants to have offspring with. This'll result in another clutch where you can get more babies!
