Is it acceptable to run a flight after the owner of the dragon has vanished, picking the winner yourself?

Absolutely! People vanish here all the time.

Sometimes. If you adopted out the dragon to them, it might be okay. Otherwise, probably not.

Oh no. It isn't. Writing or just running that flight infringes on that persons copyright on their own character. Just drop the flight.

It's only acceptable if you don't write the flight.

An Ethical Question / Nidus Otakaii

Post by caesiusdraco »

Heya,

Has anyone seen the girl who ran Nidus Otakaii?

It's been a bit since I e-mailed her about Romarneth's flight, and I've gotten no response...

Do you think that it would be unethical to choose a winner for her and run the flight regardless? I've always considered filling out a flight form to mean that my dragon rises/chases there whether I vanish or not. But, I don't want to seriously offend anybody, and...I also really don't want to just drop that flight. I have plans for it...*insert evil laughter*

I know that I wouldn't mind if it were me, but it's not me, so I'm not sure. Also people vanish and come back all the time. I have more times than I can count, and I know you yourself just returned from an extended hiatus. I voted for the last option, I'm sure she won't mind too terribly as long as you don't put it in story-form.

Were it my character, i wouldn't mind. As a general guideline, i suppose it's fine too. You do have a site to run, after all. If you gave her the dragon, and she is nto here to give her response, then there's not really much else you can do. :/ A story is a bit much, and if you do write a story, focus more on the dragon's perspective than on the rider-character's, i suppose.

I agree, writing the flight is probably out, because who knows what's up with it from their angle. But they wanted the dragon to fly, so fly em.
