Wing help, omg.

Post by LakotaWolf »

I've been trying to make new templates, and I came up with this one for the male. He's running, but that folded wing is bugging me X3 Does it look right? Position-wise? And it has no wing-membrane right now because I have NO clue what it would look like :O

Redlines please, references, critiques, anything is welcome!

Thank you in advance :D

Take a look at those BWR dragons you made that page for, for wingfolds XD Terry is excellent at them.

As for the wing as you have it, you'll want to tuck the long finger-spine under his elbow, so it doesn't take as much effort for the running schattie to hold it still. It'll brace up against his wing-arm and/or over his rump.

Totally butchered your picture, but I attempted to red (and purple!)-line your schattie-boy for you, the way Gail suggested:

(I also had some fun with badly-proportioned skulls, but that's because I was bored. XD)

I figure that there'd be some major wrinklage going on around his elbow area, since you have the trailing edge of the wing wrapped and folded around the tine a lot. :\ The tine would still be bouncing around alot (I'm thinking of car antennae when moved, springing back and forth for a while) and that can't be comfortable! Perhaps allowing the wing-time some flexibility, when not in use, so that the tip can fold in under the trailing edge, kind of like Ahkahna's Taschevah? o.o' I don't think that that's something she copyrighted, and it just makes sense for long wing-tines, to me!

::worships Ahkahna::

...though if a bird really landed on Jim's hand like that, it would probably poo on him a second later.

Anyway XD You guys have given me two good ideas so far - Dray and Ahkahna XD

And omg Dray, thank you for the multicolorline! That is perfect - I can see what you mean... the wingspike is a big problem area :/ I admit I didn't think about it too much when I drew my first Schattarneki... but of course that was when I was drawing all of them side-view four-feet-on-the-ground wings-held-straight-up XD So vanilla! I think maybe I could make them a little bit the way Ahkahna's dragon's HORNS are on the Mechaelen Teyotshey Taschevah - flexible and able to move up and down!

Dray, I think I understand your suggestion for the wing spike... I think XD ::scratches head:: It's almost like the thing would have to be segmented, and able to bend a LITTLE at each segment, so by the time the wingspike got to the end, it could possibly have a fairly steep curve to it. I think. I'll try to draw a sketch of what I mean in the morning and we can see if it makes sense.

Hey, that might work (and look /really/ cool!) Putting a curve like that it it might transfer the weight all towards the wrist, and if the wrist were held a little further down the body, allowed to give some spring when the dragon walked... Well, the joints of wrist and elbow would have to be very strong... unless they rested their wrists on their elbow-spikes or something! XDD

I'm imagining ram-style horns, only curling /up/ and with less curve to them. It's highly amusing! X3333
