Do you ever just....

Post by Silver Midnight »

Want to run screaming away from something you enjoyed?

It's nothing to do with this, as I'm sure you know I haven't been around here lately, really. Soon to explain why. I've been playing a Tolkien-based MUD, called Shadows of Isildur. It's fun. Why? There are good rpers there, and I was involved in plots, and all that...

...And then crap started happening. I had a character that started off well, got involved. And then she got involved with this guy, fell in love with him. And he died. In a way that from a player point of view was very lame.

So yeah, she mourned him, went to the funeral, all that crap. Another friend helped her along, kept her company as she did him, they were going to work together to get themselves a decent life. Then they went out hunting one day, dumbass sergeant in the Vanguard decided to harass them saying they were trespassing.

Threatened to arrest them. Argued.

And THEN the admins got involved, started slinging about NPCs. What happens? They all go after her other good friend. He dies. What happens to my character? Well, have yet to see if the admins decide to FIX this bull or just sit on their high horses. It was a TOTALLY lame death.

If not...well then, my character's going to die trying to murder the Sergeant. I feel horrible for her, she was a nice little character, needs a hug and friends and a happier life than the one she ended up with. =/

So yeah. v_v; Real life sucks, play life sucks, so what else comes up? *mutters and stalks around*

*EDIT* Oh, and by the time all the admins' pets went through first my character's friend, Airdrad, then some Vanguarder recruit and got to me the admins decided it was time for a force stop before they could finish me off. My character was in shock/hysterical by that time. =/

Eew. That's partially why I didn't get into the pernese mucks/muds. You caaaaan't have a healer who studies POISONS!!! that'd be wrrooooonnnggg! *sigh* Yet Baeris is and always has been what she is... :)

Yeah, infighting and the cliquey things are *really* pervasive in muds. They have so much potential and then some asshat makes everyone's experience bad. :(

*hugs* I hope you don't lose the character to anything like that, I suspect it'll always have a bit of bittersweet now though. :(

I'm going to kill her off. x.x Put her out of her misery. At the point after Airdrad died she was sitting in the middle of the Ithilien cradling his body until one of the cavalry men slunk out of the city and made her come back. She's kinda...messed up.

::hugs Sil AND her character:: I feel ya, I used to be like this on DragonRealms and GSIII, and you couldn't even "permanently" die on those unless you were really stupid and let yourself get caught without a favor or whatnot.

This is also why Lakota became my "only" character and she became more and more like me >__>; The things that happened in "her" life on various RPs started affecting ME too much (depression, frustration, etc) so I had to pull her back from it. And myself.

The worst time was in DragonRealms where Lakota met, fell in love with, and married a paladin, who then betrayed her and ended up fighting her to the death all because I (her player) wouldn't cyber with him >_>; That was just stupid, though...

I hope you can get some of this resolved - maybe it's best to have this character die and just start anew, since her life had so much pain anyway? :{

Ewwwww! I hate it when char battles happen over OOC things. Especially cybering. That's just wrong.

*hugs Sil* Man that sucks! I've been a little frusterated as of late too since one of my favoured chars got herself into a depression. >.< And it's damn difficult to get her out. Hopefully the admins will realize what asshats they've been, even if it's after the fact. Ruining a char is no good for anyone. And there /is/ a thing as too much angst.

Nah, they're not going to do it. =/ It's been too long in game. I'm going to miss playing her, but I think she's just been through too much at once at this point. And the Admins are all about "We don't feel entirely justified reviving this character" soooo.... I'm going to have to play it a little and see what happens. The Sergeant guy that got her friend killed has kind of been the bane of her existance since I made her. Heh.

Have her go out in a blaze of glory by utterly destroying the Sergeant's life the way he destroyed hers!

*snrk* Actually she's doing okay, and something might be done about the Sergeant. >> Obviously sneaking into the Officers' Meeting and listening in is a big no-no though...At least the Ranger that was there is a good friend.

I only lurk there, but I can vouch for Mystic. BRPS is an awesomely fun community. Just watch out for incoming Mary Sue debates. ^_^
