Help? Dragon-Type Poll-Thingie

Post by DragonFlight »

Well, I've given it quite a bit of thought, and I was wondering.

Do you guys like the Old-World style dragons? And assuming so, just how much do you like them?

I was thinking about falling back to my roots a bit, by working through a template set of Old-World dragons, and setting them up as available. Clutches and everything. Obviously this would be on the side, and with the templates all pre-done, the clutches could be pretty fast. (Since I have places to accept other dragon types for flights, this one would be strictly Old-World, or as pure as possible.)

So what would you think? Do you like this idea? Would you like to send candidates to be involved? It wouldn't interrupt the flow for the Sanctuary or the Citadel once it was set up, so....just a thought. ^^ Comments?

I would definitely like to see us having a few more traditional just-pernese sites. Right now there's like 2, and I have one. :) I would be interested in sending dragonhope candidates as they only live on pern. :)

What's the other one, Shard? Surely there's more than just Dragonhope and Tripaldi? Granted I'm terrible at hatching anything but I'm still open and traditional...heh...

Well Samber just opened a new mostly-pernese one, that's the one I was thinking of. :D

I'd like to see that. I only have a few "Old World" style dragons myself, and I'd love to adopt more :3

I'd love it, as long as I could send non-Pernese characters. I don't like to write off my world just because I'd have nowhere to stick all the characters :P

Old-world = good *nods*

However. Do take note of how quickly the clutches fill up. Or not, as it might be better put. I had a Sr. gold clutch (with gold egg) up for about 3 - 4 months and never got a single candidate.... Falas struggles for them (and has /gorgeous/ images).... Dragonhope, I dunno, maybe Shard has a bit more luck... Tripaldi, I know Xalia's had problems in the past.

By all means, go for it, but I just thought I'd highlight the luck we've all had in the past. So your fully informed and all that. People saying they'll write candidates and people actually writting them are different things.

Personally, I touch Old-World dragons only rarely. The plain look and limited colour set generally bore me. XD

Then don't apply. ;)

I have an appreciation of the old world of course, because it's from those that we can compare and see how cool the fur/extra wings/abilities/colors really are.

Plus, what's a 'plain' dragon? Each of our species seem to have a flavor of their own, some have long headknobs, some big paws, others crests or spineys. Without those little things, yeah, they'd all be boring as hell, but since we all draw our own (or, *cough* have ours drawn for us like in dragonhope's case lol) I like looking at them that way. The same reasons we came up with behind the Alskyr dragons: each island had their own unique gene pool so each were a bit different, over the basic template.

I'd go for some pure Old-World dragons. I don't muck with them too much, on account of there being a limited amount available, but I still like them.....mostly. Really in the "new" colors, instead of the basic gold, bronze, etc. rules.

Well, duh. XD But DF deserves to know there's people that wouldn't be interested just as she deserves to know who would be. :)

I would like to see another Old-World weyr. I'm trying to get a weyr set up, and I'd like to have dragons from a variety of different weyrs

I'd like to see another Old-World type weyr, purely because it's just easier for me to write characters from a familiar world. And there's a few people I may even be able to poke towards sending candidates to you. :)
Darkling Dawn: Fauna Frenzy Open to candidates; flights open to males/females; rukel eggs/breedings available.
Drockh-Tallahn Castle: 3 eggs, 2 available. Females and males needed.
Sgiath Wolfkeep: 7 pups available
Sedona Weyr: 12 eggs, Deadline March 8. Chasers and a female needed.

Old World dragon's've lost their appeal to me, probably because they're so restrictive. Coming from the standpoint, "I like to breed dragons together to make terribly mashed up mutts!", it takes away from it, I guess! O_o' That, and I have a difficult time enough as it is writing for the "omg so cool!" clutches that only come once in a life time! ;_; I'm sorry, you do have such lovely images... maybe I'll send in a stats page/short story for a green some time... but I just don't think I would be throwing scads of candidates at you all the time!

Mmkay. Seems like the general consensus is that people would be interested in having more Old-World dragons around. So, I will go about setting that whole thing up. Slowly. I'll probably handle it in a very relaxed manner, as my prime focus will still be the Citadel and Sanctuary. ^^
