Dorian Photo Manip -- Sexy man with a Sword!

Well okay here's an example of why Astra needs to stop forgetting to take her ADD medication *self thwack* Instead of doing math homework like I was SUPPOSED to be doing all day, I instead spent the entire day doing this. Gah.

Today during math computer lab I was thinking that I really havent had time lately to just screw around in photoshop as much as I'd like. I also realized I'd like to draw a bunch of my male characters but I suck royally at the male figure, so instead of paying attention like i was supposed to (blame the ADD), I googled some anime tutorials, and I found one site that suggested tracing stock photographs of real people to get the feel of what should go where. By a lucky accident, I was procrastinating and messing with Deviantart this afternoon and I found the massively talented and sexy Cobweb-Stock and decided to give the tutorial a try (hey, anything but math homework, right?). I found one pose that reminded me of Dorian so I decided to try and do one of him. And besides, Dorian is hot.

Let me take a break from this rant to go into a long tirade about the hotness of Dorian Bromsted. Why oh why in my infinite lack of wisdom did I, in the 8th grade when I created the character, decide to have him be married and live 200 years in the past? Of course, his descendants are sexy too...

Anyway I must repeat again the pose is NOT mine, I TRACED it from a photo. I wish I could do that by myself. Perhaps someday I will be able to. But not today. But I traced the pose and made him into Dorian, huzzah.

For the background I just got lazy and used a stock photo without changing it. The background is from Sabrine Nature Stock and is from a castle in italy -- I'm really excited about this castle because it looks EXACTLY like how I had the Fountain Palace in Azure pictured. Happy day.

Anyway I'm going to shut up now and show you this picture I'm so excited about and then I'm going to go to bed so that i can actually spend tomorrow fully awake and be semi productive for once.

c&c welcome, but remember the pose is not mine! I wish it was! But in the words of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, we are not getting sued!

Nice work! Though he's huge on the background - I understand having him be as large as possible, but what I'd do is increase the scale of the background to match him.

Not make the picture that big, just crop it the same as it is now. Scale is the only thing here that's obviously wonky.

Very nice colors, I like em!

I'd like to see what you could do with color-outlines, though. It would add to the realism of the figure, a lot I think.

And holy potato, you're only in 8th grade and doing that? >.< I was still doing stick-people even with photos to trace from (and I was bad. >.>" I traced and didn't give credit... then again, I don't think I really uploaded anything... but yeah. XD Now I look back on them and go "WTF's this from?")

Anyways, my shpeel's over, just wanted to say that you did a very nice job! ^_^ I love his hair, and the little dragon on the sword. :D Keep it up!

You're right, he is sexy--and tracing's a way to learn. Just give credit. X3

o.o I traced a tad bit around 8th grade, but that's when I morely started developing my talent. I'd always drawn from pictures, but not really traced... *shrugs* Don't have any of the old art, I don't think, but it rather...sucked. But it was good for my grade, at least!

*EDIT* Where'd the discussion of 8th grade come in, anyway? Astra is a tech student in college..

*EDIT2* Oh, Dray, she's saying she thought him up in 8th grade. XD *still has some characters floating around from that era, well...more than some really*

GODS no! I'm a sophomore in college

I came up with the character when I was in 8th grade. Thanks for the comments though

heh I remember in 8th grade when I drew my first guy with some muscular definition that didn't look like the michelin guy, I was excited

And my dragons back then ... frightening. Though I must say 8th and 11th grades were probably my biggest years of improvement art wise. In high school everyone oggled over how awesome my art was, and then I go to places like this and ... yeah, I suck. I guess it's the same as in anything -- there will always be someone better than you
