| Notes: |
The Avanyu are native to Arizonan and New Mexican water basins, and their names are based off of Tohono O'odham language. They are guardians of water and springs, and are believed by some to have created desert waterways in Arizona. Not only are they keepers of precious water sources, they bring rain, thunder and lightning. They have been known to punish those who poison the waters that they watch over.
In the modern setting of Earth, the Avanyu are no longer respected by many of the people that inhabit their desert homes. Some of their ancient watery homes have even been drained dry by the massive cities in and around the desert.
These creatures can breed with other Nexus dragons, but since they are essentially spiritual beings, they do not have true genders. Each Avanyu will come with a standard set of abilities, and a river that it watches over and calls home.
Tatk Akimel is the guardian of Kanab Creek, and his name means "Root River" in O'odham.

| Personality: |
Tatk is a haughty creature who prefers to be spoken with with great respect. He's hard to please. When people began to drain his water-ways, and moreover diverted those who had made their homes in the shelter of his cliffs, he spent many years in isolated grief.
He is still not fully resolved of his hard feelings, but has come out of his caves to look for other peoples in all the worlds he has access to, in hopes of seeing better ways that the two and many-legged creatures out there interact with their lands. From time to time, he stops by Nidus Lacus, where he checks in on them and, in a way, keeps them in check. He does not care for the militant way most of the Nidus governs itself, but up where the streams burble down into the lake and there are few war-like dragons about, there are more peaceful creatures that he occasionally brings into dreams to interview and consider. Only very, very occasionally does he ever share a sliver of his own grief, and when he does, Nidus Lacus sees much heavier rain than it usually does, but afterwards all those who are touched by those hard showers find a sliver of good luck soon after. |
