Because he's partially equipped for dark water travel, he sees better in low vision, but he wears tinted glasses to help during bright days that happen often at Nidus Insula. These help to ameliorate the hulking look of him, because he's quite smart, and it's partially a signal to other humanoids that he shouldn't be thought to be thick-skulled.

As a youngster, his job was to prep the fish from his family's hauls, which gave him a good understanding of how to cook the darned things. He loved sitting with his grandparents and listening to their gossip while he worked, and to this day he holds a special place in his heart for youngsters who would benefit a lot from having a task to do and a place to sit by the kitchen. When he was old enough, he began participating first in fishing, then eventually in hunts for larger local fish. His family did this all in situ, working with tools directly in the water to herd fish into nets, or to take them down with harpoons where called for.

Eventually, he was Searched and sent along with other candidates to a Seahold, which soon passed him into the Summer Swim program. He made a lot of friends with his soup and his careful attention to detail. He made a very important connection with Tekthiss, when she hatched and was attracted to the scents of all the herbs and spices he used. She says she sees the potential in him, but she may also simply like to bury her big nose in his brightly coloured fur to snorf him when she needs a pick-me-up.

Tekthiss has taken a page out of her bond's book, as she's grown older and seen the merit of cooking and hunting for others. She makes friends by feeding them, and spends several days at sea simply rounding up fish and herding them into shallower waters with the distracting scintillations of her hide. People have begun to associate Tekthiss with bounty, which is exactly how she wants it.
