Repetition found her way into Ellipsis' care at a very early age, and the two have been inseperable since. Unlike Ellipsis, who tends to be calm, patient, and pragmatic, Repetition can grow easily bored and so has begun developing bad habits to get attention.
She is a genius; in fact, she's probably the Nidus' strongest tactician. Living in the lake gives her a spacial awareness that even flying dragons don't possess: she is not bound by gravity in the same way that most of the Nidus residents are. When she hears a problem (and she likes to eavesdrop) she will consider solutions to those problems to herself in a considered, iterative way. To most, though, this sounds like the LochNexian singing another tune.
Nobody has yet quite grasped her genius. Ellipsis understands enough to occasionally broadcast ideas to those in need when the problem is dire... but his methods of communication are far less precise. For this reason, both Ellipsis and Repetition tend to stay to the waters, even though Repetition could technically come on land should she wish.
In her more bored moments, she likes to study the two-legged folk who live among the dragons of the Nidus. They seem tiny and fragile, much like Ellipsis when he is shrunk down to shrimp-sized in order to catch a ride on her head when she raises her long neck out of the water! Repetition has begun to take on a sense of pride and protection of these slightly dumber, very adorable 'humans'. Their children especially give her a kind of cute rage that is hard to beat. She's taken to humming tunes to those she can see on the shore, and those who are brave enough to stick around when she appears to them, she hums special naming tunes. From them, she has picked up quite a few lullabies (each of which is adorable, in her mind.) To dragons on the shore... she is less equinaminous. There are a few stuffy ones that she likes to play tricks on. Whether startling them by night, or pranking them with a well-aimed spitball, she's identified one or two that have targeted her as a nemesis.
Repetition is blithely ignorant of how far this one-upsmanship could go, enjoying instead the little spikes of excitement when she can taunt a dragon into coming out over the waves to try to play whack-a-mole with her head. This isn't her relationship with all the Nidus' dragons, thankfully, and there are a few (mostly those who knew Ellipsis prior to Repetition's arrival) who she has made peace with. |
