Aust is a quiet fellow who spent a lot of time by himself before Nidus Novalux came out of the mists of the Drift. He helped patrol the borders of the Nidus, where the pocket of reality grew misty and dangerous to tread. His grandparents and great-grandparents spoke of sprawling lands that went on forever, and he craved that from a young age.
| That's why he's moved all the way to Winterholme; he's made the trek entirely on foot, alone, learning the land intimately over the course of a few years. Though he has a strong wanderlust, he also misses people (to an extent) and the fact that Winterholme is surrounded by relatively difficult living conditions feels a little like home. He'll probably never settle into the village proper, but having a new home base fulfills a part of him that he didn't realize was missing. It helps that, though he's not himself terribly sociable, he has made some acquaintances that he actually likes. His sense of loyalty is quite strong, even if his bonds don't translate into traditional expressions of affection. | |

Calek is a wanderer like Aust, and enjoys being confined to places like small buildings even less than his bond. This means that on the rare occasions that Aust visits Winterholme, Calek can be found waiting outside the town's limits. Calek is not a chatty creature, which suits their relationship quite well. They are patient with one another, and have an unspoken promise about ensuring anyone who gets lost is shepharded back to the village; otherwise Calek is content to spend his time at an aloof distance even from his own bond as he lives his life.
